The night before....

It's 8:00pm Sunday night and the anticipation is building. We haven't packed yet but everything is pretty well laid out ready to go in the suitcase....hopefully I will have one...the backpack/case that I bought over the internet from Ric Steeves travel site is still in transit. The latest update from the web tracking site at UPS says it will be delivered tomorrow between 9 and 5...cutting it a bit fine to say the least as we have to be at the airport by 1:30. I have a provisional/backup case on standby just in case....

Busy weekend. Saturday was the big wedding...a grand affair indeed. Alan and Natascia tied the knot and a good time was had by all. Following the church wedding, the guests were invited to King Henry's Pub in Richmond Hill which is owned by the groom and he generously laid on an open bar and munchies to tide us over for the few hours between the service and the reception. We took full advantage of the hospitality although we had to make a side trip as we delivered Simba our cat to Una's good friend Julie who is cat sitting while we are away. Julie...if you are reading this we both appreciate you taking this on. Feel free to post comments but spare us the details of any misdemeanors. Una is worried that she forgot to discuss with you what to do in the event Simba gets sick...How much to spend at the vet....all I can say is we really don't have a budget so whatever you think is reasonable...under no circumstances are we paying for Cat Scans though....

The evening wedding reception was 1st class...great food, open bar...good music, good company ...I'm not much for the dancing but managed a few quicksteps to the bar which may explain why I was dragging my butt a bit today.

This afternoon we were at Brian and Debi's to celebrate Brian Junior's 40th birthday. A nice afternoon, sitting around outside in the sunshine. We had already had a big party for Brian's birthday a couple of weeks ago so today's celebration was somewhat low key although anything but quiet with any number of rug rats running around. We got home to a phone message from my sister Celia telling me that Big Iain (her husband) will be in Amsterdam on Tuesday on a 5 hour layover connecting from Tallin (Estonia) to Glasgow. She wondered if we might give him a call on his cell and see if we can't meet up for a pint. Sounds like a plan to me...let the fun begin!

All going well I will try and post from Amsterdam.

So ...I dial up and logon early in the Florida morning, navigate to your Blog ... and find that the Amsterdam Airport bars don't have any kind of ethernet access? I thought I would have had a pint by pint description of you and Iain's morning appreciation of European liquid culture. I'll check later!

Enjoy Amsterdam - great place to see paintings and canal-side architecture.

OK - I'm impressed with your blog site. What a coincidence that Iain just happened to be in Amsterdam at the same time! Make the most of your trip - it's raining in Edinburgh right now
