Florence

Tuesday October 3rd.

Today we are heading to Florence. I suspect we will need 2 days but we will see how we get on. Perhaps if we can, we will book an appointment to see Michelangelo's David because the lineups are reportedly long.
Yesterday was another successful day. The visit to San Gimaningo was very enjoyable, magnificent views and we enjoyed an excellent lunch. On the way home we stopped and picked up some groceries then went out for supper again to C'ere Una Volte where we enjoyed another first class meal. Back home we sat outside and lit a fire in the stone fireplace/barbecue. When I was posting the blog yesterday, I wasn't able to upload as many pics as I wanted because the connection was slow and timed out on me which resulted in having to start all over again. I'm not lugging the laptop today...I'll save my commentary and pics on a memory stick and if I find an internet cafe I'll use their computer.

Ciao

Ah Florence My favorite city.

Una, if you go back tomorrow go to:

The Gold Corner
Piazza Santa Croce

and pick yourself up a few trinkets. The gold prices are half the prices of those on the Ponte Vecchio.

Mom, I think you should have a rest, you look totally exhausted in that picture.

Una, when you went to the hair salon for few clips here and there, I didn't think that you would go so far as a gray rinse. Keep these shoulders back and chest out!

I've been thinking that with all the fine red Vino being consummed that the Kings Arms will have to change the weekly order. Two less kegs of Labbatts Blue and a few more crates of Chianti!!.

Dear Paul,

Like SUITCASE, discretion might not be your strongest point and you should learn to keep your gob zippered shut when you address your Mom.

Mind you, in fairness, it took your Dad about 42+ years to more or less learn that particular survival technique.

Anyway, even from this side of the Atlantic, above the noise of Floridian alligator roars, I can hear your Mother's utterance : "Call
'The Gold Corner', rewrite that present's tag (scratch out 'Paul'. insert 'Simba')... and let me wipe out out the slurs of that ungrateful geriatric child with another BIG glass of vino.".

Love,

Uncle Michael

PS Let me know what and if you eventually get something in your goody-bag!!)

PPS Even if she mails it from Italy, you have to pay the Canadian Customs & Excise Duty Tax ... revenge could be sweet.

Dear Suitcase,

Did you read Brian's last comment? ...he's "Looking for leather...". I told you to keep your zip zippered, but would you listen?

Leather!!! I guess I should have mentioned that there is a great leather shop across the road from the Gold Corner. Perhaps you found it after buying Una her gold.

well I have tried to hold my tongue buts its been 11 days now and NOBODY has asked how I am . Suitcase complains all the time about lugging around a few bits of clothing . Have you seen what I'm carrying? Trust me no mean "feat". And then at the end of the day my sides are bursting (especially if large quantities of vino have been consumed the night before)Does anybody out there care about the most important person on this trip the one that takes a licking but keeps on ticking.

Hey Nike Shoes, don't even get me started! You and Suitcase think you have it so bad? Just imagine what it is like to be close to Brian's bait and tackle all day long. At least you Suitcase, get a little R&R every once and awhile. Your zippers get opened and you get some fresh air.
I on the other hand get quite the opposite, there is nothing fresh about being close to Brian's crown jewels, and his gastric orifice. I am sure Una can back me up on this.
I must say one good thing about Brian... While hanging up to dry one afternoon, (Suitcase and Nike were close by so they can verify this) I overheard a story about a young Brian having bladder control problems when he has had a few too many, thankfully the older Brian does not suffer from the same problems.... Oh god, here he comes, I thought it was "Shorts" turn today but I guess it is a little to cold for that.

Dear Tilley Pants -

Crown Jewels?

Please, please - don't boast about your micro-management skills.

Tilley Pants I feel your pain , but where were you last night when that old pair of Crocs made a pass at me under the bed!???I told them I don't undo my laces for just anybody you know , especially a pair that were responsible for us being thrown out of a perfectly respectable establishment last week!!
