Last post everyone.
I'm off to Paisley tomorrow (Saturday) to spend the night at Celia and Iain's before flying out early Sunday morning for home. Una is staying a few more days...she's coming back Thursday, just in time to wave me goodbye as I'm leaving Friday for a weeks golf trip in Florida.
Today was another great day...weather was warm enough to just need a sweater or light jacket. As you might see from the pics, we took an open air bus tour of the city which was very enjoyable. We lunched then at the Rose and Crown on Rose St where Alan and I enjoyed many a pint when we worked together 40 years ago. Next we went shopping and as you can see I splurged on a new outfit. No point in having a new purse without a new skirt! I've wanted a kilt for quite some time and just decided on the spur of the moment to go for it.
Loaded with parcels we took the bus back to Dalkeith only to have the bus break down on us and we had to wait another 10 minutes for the next one. Once back we drove to Lasswade and visited Una's dad then back to Mag's and Di's to enjoy steak pies which Una's dad had made for us.
It's been a great trip and I'm sorry that it is now virtually over. We have both enjoyed being able to share our experiences with so many people and reading all the comments along the way.

Wee chap...thanks for the offer of a lift. Air Transat flight TS625 arrives Toronto 10:30 Sunday morning.
See you then.

Brian, Una,
Sorry your trip is almost over but trust your last days continue to be loads of fun and we meet on another similar trip SOON. We both enjoyed ourseleves so much with you both, Cecilia and Iain.
Delighted handbag has found a soulmate with a mans skirt, but think a sporran and a mans handbag as overkill. Like a sticker on the back of a Porsche saying 'my other car is a Porsche'. Still if you want to be noticed in the King Henry, you've hit the spot with that lot - plus the Rolex of course. Assume the laces around the shirt are in case you have an accident with the brogues?
If you wear that lot on your homeward flight to Toronto, look out for envious and attentive flight attendants - and I don't mean the female type either. Such is the price to pay for such sartorial elegance.
Will ring you tonight at Cecilias in Paisley.
Ciao,
Peter and Penny
Hello Una and Brian,
Wow !!! what a journey. I feel so sad that it is almost over.It has been wonderful travelling along with you.( I am a bit worried about the effect the trip has had on Brian, with purses and skirts etc.Must say he does look good in the skirt and blouse !!!)I too would like to stay with Mags and Di.I see she has a glass of Red in hand. She looks very like your Mum in the photo.Una, enjoy the rest of your stay, look forward to seeing you both soon. Safe journey home. Many thanks for sharing the wonderful places you have visited with us.Love to your Family. Helen X
Hi, folks. Everyone has been so eloquent in their postings that I am at a loss for words. Anyhow, echo Peter, Penny and Helen's comments that it is sad to see the journey coming to a close. I think that I learned more about Europe in the last 5 weeks than I did all the way through school!
Thanks for the Rose and Crown pic, Brian. Memories of many a pint and steak pie consummed for lunch so many years ago.
With all the ribbing you took over your accessories, glad that you made the jump to the kilt. Looks great on.
Will "suitcase" need to adopt some lookalikes to get all the purchases home?
Safe flights.
Alan
It's with great sadness that I write this note. I have thoroughly enjoyed this adventure and I'm sorry it's coming to an end. Please let's get together when you're home. We can share photos of the villa.

Suitcase says..........
It's cold and dark in here - I'm in the crawl space....my worst nightmare. There's mice, spiders and everything.I think this is a punishment because I put weight on during the trip and Brian had to pay excess baggage fee at the airport. This was due to the fact that I was full of Una's shoes and Brian had bought a tartan skirt and a hairy handbag. Please can someone come and rescue me.I know that Mags fancied me but she's in Scotland and I can't go there on my own.Jennifer is the offer still open?????? I'm desperate I'll take any offer.Help I'm lonely and everyone has forgotten me except Simba who has threatened to crap in me because she thinks I was party to her being left behind for 5 weeks.I'm good value for money, come and get me ....anybody
